Bell Fund Sponsors Sunny Side of the Doc in La Rochelle, France.

Canada is the Country of Honour for the this year’s edition of Sunny Side of the Doc, the four-day international market for factual content taking place June 20 – 23, 2016. The Bell Fund will sponsor a panel and luncheon on the topic “Playing with Reality: When Gaming and Documentary Mix” on Tuesday, June 21st. The international panel is composed of distinguished industry professionals: Florent Maurin (founder, The Pixel Hunt), Noam Roubah (founder, Darjeeling Productions), Francis Ingrand (founder, Plug In Digital) and Canadian Vali Fugulin (Vali Fugulin Productions). The panel will be moderated by Benjamin Hoguet (follow his blog here).

The panelists will explore the synergy between the game and the documentary, and between the use of narration and the use of gameplay – all while demonstrating that documentary games can change the world in which we live.

Many activities will support Canadian talent: panels, screenings, and pitch sessions will showcase our creators and projects. In particular, the VR Lab at Sunny Side of the Doc will feature The Unknown Photographer, produced by Turbulent in collaboration with RIDM, Cuban Hat, and Hot Docs.
