The Bell Fund has invested in the production of new media projects associated with television productions since 1997. Bell TV makes annual contributions of over $8 million to this Fund. In addition, the investments generated by a $10 million endowment resulting from the BCE/CTV Benefits provides the funding to support the development of digital interactive projects.
The Bell Fund’s mandate is to advance the Canadian broadcasting system. The Bell Fund:
- encourages and funds the creation of excellent Canadian digital media
- promotes partnerships and sustainable businesses in the broadcast and new media sectors
- engages in research and sharing knowledge
- enhances the national and international profile of industry stakeholders.
The Bell Fund is a not-for-profit organization, certified by the CRTC as an independent production fund eligible to receive and administer contributions from broadcast distribution undertakings. It is governed by a nine member Board of Directors operating as an arms-length corporation with representatives from broadcasting, the television and new media production sectors and from Bell TV and its affiliates.
